MONDAY -Feb 3, Mar 2, Apr 6, May 4
4:00 - 4:45pm - BEGINNER BUGS - For students in Pre-Twinkles, Twinkles - early Book 1
4:45 - 5:30 - BEGINNER FIDDLE - For students past the Twinkles. No note reading required. Learn by ear via reference recordings.
6:00 - 6:45 - MUSIC THEORY FOR THE CURIOUS MUSICIAN - No prior knowledge necessary! Come learn about the structure of melody, harmony and how to talk about it with MSA Bass teacher Aaron Tomasko.
TUESDAY - Feb 4, Mar 3, Apr 7, May 5
4:00 - 4:45 - ADVANCED FIDDLE - Some note reading required. Learn by ear via reference recordings. Various styles of fiddle.
4:45 - 5:30 - BEGINNING CHAMBER - For students Book 1 Perpetual Motion or beyond. Basic note reading required, teacher will assist with note reading.
5:30 - 6:15 - SONGWRITING - For anyone beyond the Twinkles!
WEDNESDAY-Feb5, Mar4, Apr8,May6
4:30 - 5:15 - CINEMA GROUP - Note reading required. For students in Book 2 or beyond. A stepping stone class on the way to PYPO.
5:15 - 6:15 - PORTLAND YOUTH POP ORCHESTRA - For students with strong note reading skills, experience in 3rd & 4th positions. Book 3+
6:15 - 7:15 - DUETS, TRIOS & QUARTETS For students Book 4+. All Classical.
THURSDAY - Feb6, Mar5, Apr9, May7
5:00 - 5:45 - ELECTRIC STRINGS - For anyone age 10 yrs and older, any ability level. What’s a pick-up? How do I plug in? What are effects pedals? What is reverb?Create cool new sounds on your instrument, learn technical savvy and stage know-how the pros.
FRIDAY - Feb7, Mar6, Apr10, May8
6:00 - 7:00 - ADULT CHAMBER GROUP- A coached session where players have fun getting together and working through pieces that are within your grasp but will cause you to stretch.

STRINGS HAVE A PLACE IN ALMOST EVERY GENRE OF MUSIC
MSA monthly group classes provide a unique opportunity for students from all over the Portland area to rehearse and perform together. Our goal is to provide relevant material that is diverse and exciting in order to inspire musical awareness and growth. Our classes are suited for students of all ages and ability levels, including adults! Group classes are required for students of Mosaic String Academy (very beginners attend upon teacher recommendation).
WE HAVE FUN WHILE WE LEARN!
Each class meets once per month for a total of 4 months. Attendance is mandatory because everyone is important in our musical arrangements. Check out our schedule and sign up for as many classes as you like. If you have any questions, please contact Kate directly.

(Group classes are included in tuition for members of Mosaic String Academy. All others attend for a small fee.)
